Mountain Biking
“It’s just like riding a bike”… There is truth to this saying. If you’ve ridden a bike (road or mountain bike) comfortably before, we believe you can ride a mountain bike - it’s easier… it has fatter tires :). If you're at the level where you’re bombing ramps in downhill bike parks, you can lead the trip… Just kidding. But seriously, the bike part of our trips are set up to accommodate all different levels of riders. We will take your fitness level and your biking level into consideration in choosing where, when how and how long we ride. Which means from a big wide fire road, to tight turns on a single track through challenging rock gardens, we think we can take you from where you are to level-up with a grin on your face. Trust us.. everyone feels cooler after mountain biking…
Hiking
What’s not to love…. We don’t think you need a description of hiking… But just a little glimpse of what it might feel like. You’re walking and walking through breathtakingly beautiful scenery. You don’t have to get back in time to pick up kids from school. Your time is yours… You only have to check your watch to make sure we get back to camp for a cold beer at sunset…But honestly.. maybe we will just stick a few in our backpack, watch the sunset from out there, and come back to camp by headlamp….
Backpacking
My favorite part of backpacking is that I have one bag with everything I need in it to everything I need to do for days! Whoa! I know that sounds a bit odd, but let’s just say that Marie Kondo hasn’t come to live in my house yet… I always feel like I’m running from room to room, tearing through drawers and closets, trying to find my yoga mat fast, so I’m not the last person rushing flabergasted and already sweaty into yoga again…Yup.. there it is… it’s the same reason I love my little truck camper.. except that my body feels a whole lot better walking instead of driving. I also love that peaceful feeling that you get when you keep getting further and further away from it all. We promise we’ll hold your cell phone, so you don’t feel tempted to check back in too soon…
Rock Climbing
“I started to climb because I was afraid of heights and the focus I felt when I was climbing was like nothing else I had ever experienced. All of the background noise of life goes silent, and there’s just you realizing you can do this - even if it’s one-hold-at-time.” - Mary Kate
Fear is natural. It’s our bodies way of protecting us. We promise we won’t be turning you into Alex Honnold in Free Solo, but we will try and get you to push past your comfort levels. We want you to climb or get back into climbing, because in our minds, nothing makes us feel as fierce as topping out a route or a boulder problem that we were unsure if we could ever do.
Climbing levels of past guests…
She had never put on a harness or seen a bouldering crash pad, but had taken her kids to way too many birthday parties at the local climbing gym and thought it looked fun.
She was a solid 11b gym climber but had never climbed on real rock outside.
She could climb 5.10 routes, but was intimidated by bouldering because every time she looked into the bouldering cave at the gym it seemed to be filled with young, super strong people.
She lived in her van and was a pretty committed Yosemite climber when she was in her 20’s, but it’s been a few years and a few kids since then.
She was a bad ass climber, and was grateful for the time to work some boulder problems without her son running around in the fall zone…
